There are several Pakistani women who are earning respect for the country wherever they have been living. Rani Taj is also among them.

Taj is a British Pakistani dhol player from Birmingham, United Kingdom. She rose to international fame in 2010 when she appeared in a viral video playing dhol in the streets.

Rani Taj is an international Dhol Player, trained by the Dhol Blasters and Azaad Dhol. She fell in love with the Dhol at the age of nine.

After becoming a Senior Dhol Player with her respective groups, Rani has thrilled audiences from Hong Kong to Norway with her unique style and ability to fuse Dhol with different genres of music from all around the world.

In 2010 at the tender age of sixteen, she remixed live to Rihanna’s ‘Rude Boy’ and became the first Dhol Player in the world to attract more than seven million hits on Youtube. The clip became the most popular video on Facebook that year.

Since then she has gone on to become a hugely respected and positive role model to people all over the world, ranging from the Middle East, to Brazil, to the Philippines.

She reaches out to young people, women and girls in particular, in an attempt to create positive thinking wherever she goes.

Not only does she aim to touch and inspire all those who hear her play but encourages everyone to be constructive and be the best at what they do.
