ISLAMABAD: Following the appointment of top leadership of Pakistan Army, the Change of Command ceremony has been scheduled for Tuesday (Nov 29) at the GHQ in Rawalpindi.

Outgoing Army Chief General Raheel Sharif will hand over the command stick to the newly appointed Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa at the ceremony.

According to ISPR, rehearsals for the ceremony were held at the General Headquarters today.

Federal Ministers, former services chiefs, senior army officers, and some other dignitaries will attend the ceremony.

Newly appointed Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Zubair Mahmood Hayat and the outgoing CJCSC General Rashad Mahmood will also participate in the ceremony.

With the change of command, General Bajwa will become 16th army chief of Pakistan.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Saturday named the new military command, appointing Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa and Gen Zubair Mahmood Hayat as the chief of army staff and the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC).

Bajwa will face challenges ranging from an increasingly hostile India to the conflict in Afghanistan, growing links between militants and Islamic State jihadists, and blowback from a Trump presidency.

He will also take control of the military’s uneasy relationship with the civilian government.
