KARACHI: Amid tension between Pakistan and India due to casualties at the Line of Control (LOC), prominent Pakistani singer Salman Ahmad announced to cancel his trip to Goa (India) where he was scheduled to perform at a cultural event.

“I’m canceling my forthcoming participation in a cultural event in Goa to protest the violence & blood letting on LOC. a Broken #HeartofAsia,” Salman Ahmed said on Twitter.

The Junoon frontman’s decision came a day after Indian firing and shelling killed 10 civilians and three Pakistan Army soldiers, including a captain, in the Kashmir region’s Neelum Valley in a recent violation of ceasefire at the LOC.

On Wednesday, Indian troops hit a passenger coaster in Azad Jammu and Kashmir’s Lawat area, killing 10 people and injuring 11 others.

The coaster was en route to Muzaffarabad. Lawat is located in the upper belt of Neelum valley that straddles the restive Line of Control (LoC).

The rising political tension between Pakistan and India has severely affected cultural exchange between the neighbouring countries.

Artists from both sides of the border have voiced concern against the mutual bans; on India’s front Pakistani artists have barred and Pakistan reciprocated this by temporarily banning Indian films.
